Winter and Summer Adaptive and Assisted skiing, snow sports and other activities in Austria

We are delighted to give you information and links to the amazing opportunities available in Austria. We agree so much with Austrian National Tourist Office's slogan of "Austria Arrive and Revive" - how much in synergy is that with our own philosphy of rejuvenating in the mountains!

As there are so many beautiful and enticing villages in Austria for an inclusive and wheelchair accessible ski or year-round life-enhancing holiday, some are grouped together into either a region or ski area. If you don't know a particular area, then scroll down and they are listed further.

So far we have manged to visit an increasing number of the most beautiful ski resorts suitable for year round enjoyment - many are 'barrier-free' 'wheelchair accessible and friendly'. However as we know from previous beneficiaries of Ski 2 Freedom and other disabled skiers that Austria is very magical place for a winter holiday! Perfect for families with young children – a real Heidi experience, and for those wanting a lively night-life and après ski……..well Austria has quite a reputation for that also!

Perhaps one of the best reasons to visit Austria are the Kinder Hotels - these really are unique and a magical experience for the whole family in winter and in summer! One we have already visited is the Alpenrose Hotel in Lermoos (Zugspitzarena) - the Mayer Family have another hotel in the Gosau region just on the slopes of Dachstein West ski area.

The following areas and resorts offer adaptive and assisted (disabled) skiing: (but do note that if you are an experienced sit-skier or have a non-physical disability then many of the ski schools in other resorts may well be able to help you).

Airport and Rail Transfers

We work with Four Seasons Travel www.airport-travel.com based in Innsbruck. They have no specific vehicle for transfer with someone remaining in their wheelchair but are able to sub-contract this and provide the necessary transfer. Please note that vehicle numbers are limited.

Four Seasons Travel also have a lot of experience in transfering blind and visually impaired visitors (even those who are travelling solo).

For the moment until we can upload all our fabulous information please do contact us direct catherine.cosby@ski2freedom.com to discuss ideas - of which there are simply masses!!

We are continually adding information to our resort pages. If you do not see a particular ski resort listed it just means we have not yet added information.

The following is a guide to show the amount of information currently available on a resort. If you see the YELLOW and RED dots, this indicates that the website is currently lacking information but we do have it and you just need to contact us and we will be delighted to go through options with you!
