Friends of Ski 2 Freedom
If you would like to help in making people laugh and face their journey in life with confidence and strength, children to have special time with parents and siblings, injured servicemen and women to find a new outlook on life and face the challenges ahead........ then we would be delighted to have your help!
Why not become a Friend of Ski 2 Freedom?
As a non-profit organization with charitable purpose we strongly believe that one important way of encouraging more children and adults with a disability, special need or for someone who has experienced a life-changing trauma or illness, is to make people more aware of what Ski 2 Freedom is all about. All the funds we receive are used exclusively to meet our aims and objectives.
"People should believe that their children can do anything. My mum wasn’t sure if I would walk, but she believed in me, and so did my dad and now I can ski!! When I am alone and all by myself sometimes I think I am unlucky, but then I think that at least I can ski so maybe I am lucky. I think Ski 2 Freedom is a good idea to show other people like me how to ski." Hugo
Since the Foundation was founded in 2007 we have been encouraged and motivated in our work by so many wonderful people. To expand this network and to enable Ski 2 Freedom to continue is work in providing a comprehensive resource of information on the activities available, accessing information on ski instructors, equipment and resorts which is at the core of our work we have set up Friends of Ski 2 Freedom.
Ski 2 Freedom also has a FaceBook page (ski2freedom) – we would be delighted if you became a fan and encouraged others to do the same.
There is no obligation for those of you who have contacted Ski 2 Freedom or may do so in the future to become a Friend – this is a voluntary idea but one we very much hope you will wish to be a part of.
"Many thanks for all you did to help give us a wonderful holiday, both in the organisation and in looking after us in Gstaad." Maureen Wallhead mother of Daniel (12) Down's Syndrome
We will be delighted to send a regular newsletter and information on new and existing ideas on what is going on in the mountains. Increasingly we are also getting ideas and information on summer activities from different ski resorts and this, we think, is also important for many families and individuals.
Please note that any information we get from you is for our own use only and is not shared unless we have your permission to do so.
"Brilliant News about the outriggers for Jack, I can't thank you enough. It's so reassuring to be able to talk to someone who really understands and can make things happen. Thank you very much for your efforts."
Payment can be made either by BACS payment to our account or simply click on the “Make a Donation” button on our home page.
“As a disabled person you face a constant battle with barriers that other people believe you can’t overcome. For me the minute it snows I am usually tucked up in a house with a kettle and a warm blanket watching people play in the snow outside. I have always known that disabled people can ski but it’s not the sort of thing that your local travel agent has any idea about.
The beautiful thing about Ski 2 Freedom is the full meaning of the word freedom. The awesome feeling of skiing down a mountain and having all barriers removed – that is freedom ! No matter where your friends or family are going you can be with them." David Proud (Spina Bifida) photo copyright Moira Lawson
Please don't hesitate to contact us if you would like to have more information on the Foundation or would like to become involved in any fund-raising initiatives.
Finally, I would just like to take this opportunity of saying THANK YOU to everyone who has supported us so far – without your support and encouragement there would be far fewer smiles to be seen and laughter to be heard on the ski slopes! Mountains really are magical places to be!!
